80% of the reconstruction works of the second runway of Chisinau Airport are already completed!

Avia Invest successfully completed the reconstruction works on the planned traffic surfaces for 2017 at Chisinau Airport. Two other runways, a stretch of the extended platform and a new segment of the new runway were inaugurated and put into operation. The works were made on an area of more than 35 thousand m2.
The new landing strip and landing areas are equipped with a modern light beacon system, which corresponds to the CAT III handling category and conforms to world standards.  Thus, in very low visibility conditions, aircraft will run safely. Also, there has been increased the capacity of shells movement areas. This will allow Chisinau airport to serve different types of aircraft after the reconstruction of the entire airport infrastructure.
Following the expansion of the platform and the reconstruction of the old one, the airport already has 27 fully functional parking spaces for aircraft, which essentially exceeds the obligations to reconstruct the number of parking spaces foreseen for the first stage of modernization.
The new aerodrome surface areas will significantly increase the operational capacity of Chisinau International Airport. Also on the last hundred meters are constructions of the third drainage system that will allow drainage of rainwater and increase the lifespan of these areas.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Octavian Calmîc mentioned the importance of modernization of Chisinau Airport.
“The development of the only functional airport in the country is absolutely essential because it will generate multiple benefits for Moldova's economy. Chisinau Airport is certainly one of the most competitive regional airports that has an infrastructure that meets the highest European standards.”
The inauguration was also attended by Director of Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova - Radu Bezniuc and project manager of the German group Strabag Group - Jakub Iurga.

“If we are to make a short retrospective of 2017, then we can characterize it as one with high performances and productivity. We have executed a large volume of works with a much higher degree of complexity. Thus, more than 145 thousand m2 of the surface of the aerodrome were fully recovered in accordance with the projects carried out at the largest European airports”, mentioned the General Director of Avia Invest- Petru Jardan.
