Car park project

Project Concept

Environmental Impact

The Chisinau Airport aims at monitoring, mitigating and duly compensating for the adverse effects on the environment. The fundamental principles for managing the environmental impact as a result of airport development are the following:

  1. noise impact limitation and, to the possible extent, its gradual minimization;
  2. maintenance of local air quality within the established limits to protect human health and the environment;
  3. prevention of landscape distruction or alleviation of such process to the greatest extent possible;
  4. obedience to all relevant water quality and other mandatory environmental standards;
  5. designing the surface access to the airport so that it would limitnegative effects on the environment;
  6. mitigation of impacts on the biodiversity.

The construction of the multi-storeyed car park envisages limited environmental impacts.

The Environmental Audit revealed that the current environmental performance of the Airport is in line with the regulatory requirements. Pursuant to the results of the qualitative assessment of the environmental and social impacts it has been concluded that while alleviation and monitoring measures are implemented, the adverse effects on the environment connected to the airport development would be unsignificant.

The Chisinau Airport is fully compliant with all safety regulations, international liabilities, technical and economic feasibility.

At the beginning of 2011 the Chisinau International Airport obtained the Carbon Accredited Certificate on CO2 emissions reduction. Such event proves the official recognition of the Airport’s efforts to safeguard the environment and includes it into the select club of Airports with low hazardous emissions. The Airport Carbon Accreditation is the European carbon standard for airports.
